dirty little secret

so the first years were having their lecture on sexuality and drugs, and the lecturer mentioned reasons given by medical students for their relative inexperience (on sex). one of the reasons is that they are living at home, so no opportunity.

then out of nowhere came this voice, so loud and clear that the entire room could hear her, "u can come to my house la!"

HAHAHA. so funny man christie!

i think everyone burst out laughing when they heard that lah!

haiyoh, these med students are not as innocent as they seem, i tell you.

the greatest story ever told ...

minchiee says my obsession with harry potter is getting creepy, but haha too bad, im gonna go on with this post anyway.

didnt intend on blogging about him at first, really.

after the accident, the scene kept on replaying over and over again in my mind like some bad mewvie, and honestly, i was too embarrassed and terrified to drive after that.

i was reading harry potter and the philosopher's stone, and i reached the part where harry first learned how to fly and how excited he was about it. it reminded me of how excited i was when i first learned how to drive, and i was ashamed of myself for letting one stupid minor accident take away the joy i had in something i really loved. so yeah, i guess next time, when a patient dies on me (it's definitely bound to happen, let's face it), im not going to give up being a doctor, or beat myself up over it or anything.

see, that's the thing i love about harry potter, that we can relate to the books so easily. say right like uhh, a series of unfortunate events (dont get me wrong, i love the books, i even OWN the whole set), but how can u relate to three kids who are geniuses (or genii, i just found out from michie that it's another plural form of genius)? unless u're one urself (dont perasan la.) or like, uhh lotr. it's not easy to put ourselves into hobbits' shoes (literally and figuratively).

even though the harry potter books revolve mainly around magic, the problems that harry faces are very much real, like losing someone that u love, or even very ordinary things that happen in our everyday lives such as arguing with ur best friends.

harry is obviously gifted, but he's average in other ways too. like um, he's not top in class, neither is he a prefect, and yeah, the most important thing is that, harry fails at times too. okay, what im trying to say is, harry is only human too. he makes mistakes like the rest of us.

was looking for a picture of firebolt earlier (dont ask me why, i just had this sudden urge to), and i stumbled upon this page.

what the author wrote was so interesting, i just had to stop to read it. and then i saw this quote! it's got to be my fav quote, mind you, j.k. rowling has a lot of amazing quotes.

"It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

that's the only thing that makes us different from other ppl. given any same situation, everyone will have diff opinions and we all will react differently due to our choices.

reminds me of this one time during our ethics tutorial, our tutor presented us with this scenario:

say u were walking and u came across this group of people. the commander is pointing his gun at 10 ppl, and he tells u that if u shoot one, he'll let the others go. but if u dont, he'll kill all 10 of them. what would u do?

so our group came up with 4 options:
1. shoot the commander
2. shoot one of the ppl
3. walk away, it's none of ur business
4. shoot urself

assuming of course that the commander keeps his word, i'll choose option 4. now, im sure u'll choose differently, and think im stupid, but i dont know, at least this way, i dont have to live with the guilt of killing someone i guess. see, above point proven - what distinguishes us between good and evil is what we choose to do about it. we're all capable of pulling the trigger, it's who we choose to shoot, or not to shoot, that sets us apart.

eeps, this post is getting too long.

shall stop promoting harry potter now!

anyway if u havent read the books, u really ought to give them a try! trust me, u wont regret it.

truth be told, i refused to read harry potter at first (because everyone else was reading it), but then bryan lent me his book and practically made me read it, so i decided, "what the heck, might as well see what's so great about this book" (and also cos i had nothing better to do at that time). after the first chapter, i was hooked, no kidding.

so yeah, now u know how much i love harry potter, dont u ever dare to insult harry potter in front of me, or u'll feel my wrath! RAWRRRR!

especially if u havent read the books. i feel like boxing the ppl who tell me "harry potter sux" or something along those lines, and then when i asked them, "have u read the books?" and they answer no, i feel like flushing their heads down the toilet.

i mean, im not forcing u to love them the way i do, or even to like them a teeny bit, but dont la talk bad about them. i respect ur opinion, i really do, but when u start saying things like, harry potter is really weak, it's really quite hard for me to tahan, u know? because i really feel so passionate about the books. if i were to go up to u and say, ur gf/ bf is really ugly and stupid, i bet u'd be furious too.

and if u havent read the books, please dont pretend to know all about them. u'll just make a fool of urself.

holidays are here, and finally i have the chance to catch up with my old friends!

met up with the other gaylords (minus jas) last thurs, and some of my tmn tun friends ytd.

didnt realise how much i missed them until now.

we didnt really do much actually, just hung out and talked.

nothing much has changed, which is really good, in my opinion.

i think it's sad that med sch doesnt have enough crazy ppl.
and by crazy, i dont mean psychotic like malfoy.
i mean, people whose antics can just make u laugh until u think that ur ribs have cracked from trying NOT to laugh.
